Abu Dhabi, 08 October 2026: The Rabdan Security and Defence Institute (RSDI) participated in the 26th Asia-Pacific Programme for Senior Military Officers (APPSMO), held in Singapore from 27 September to 1 October and organised by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).
The programme brought together senior military officers, defence practitioners and strategic thinkers from across the region to exchange perspectives on evolving security challenges, the future of warfare, and developments shaping the regional security and defence landscape.
As part of RSDI’s participation, Dr Abdul Rahman Yaacob delivered a presentation titled “The Future Battlespace: Rethinking Mass, Resilience and Command.” His presentation explored how changing technologies, operational concepts and strategic realities are reshaping the character of conflict and the requirements of future military forces.
On the sidelines of the programme, Dr Yaacob met with H.E. Desmond Choo, Singapore’s Minister of State for Defence, and Dr Kumar Ramakrishna, Dean of RSIS. The engagements provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on regional security and defence developments while further strengthening professional and institutional ties between RSDI and RSIS.
RSDI’s participation reflects its continued engagement in specialised platforms that bring together experts and practitioners in security and defence, contributing to dialogue and knowledge exchange on key strategic issues and emerging developments.
